The Jamaican-American artiste Sean Kingston returns with a Summer-themed Afrobeats-dabbling song featuring Tory Lanez and the current king of Afrobeats, Davido.
American-Jamaican artiste Sean Kingston has released a song ‘Piece of mind’ featuring Nigeria’s Davido and Canadian Tory Lanez.
The song presumably comes in Kingston’s anticipation of Summertime. The radio-friendly bop reveals this by the features: Davido, Africa’s biggest export of Afrobeats, a sound which continues to make the rounds across parties and events everywhere; Tory Lanez, traditionally a rapper has however, delved into the world of sectional music, releasing an Afrobeats-influenced project ‘International Fargo’ which featured remixes of Davido’s ‘Fall’ and Wizkid’s ‘Soco’.
Expectedly, the song has dancehall tropical undertones which provoke the sense of a beach party.
Sean Kingston, who broke into the limelight with his 2007 song ‘Beautiful girls’ also released a single with Soulja Boy prior, titled ‘Ugh!’. The new release follows a released statement, with Migos requesting to be removed from a lawsuit filed against Sean Kingston and the supergroup rap trio Migos.
Two years ago, Migos were in a legal dispute involving Sean Kingston. It was reported that the rap trio got into a physical altercation with the singer, along with two other men, in Las Vegas. A limo driver by the name of Michael Gradney who was at the scene later sued Kingston and Migos, claiming that he suffered injuries after finding himself in the middle of the brawl.
Apparently, with his recent stream of releases, Sean Kingston has made it publicly known he wishes to focus on the music.
